Community
Sometimes it seems like churches are mostly focused on meeting their own needs. Here at St. Andrews, we believe God has called us to help meet the needs of our community. Each year, we invest more than a quarter of our ministry budget in meeting needs that exist beyond the walls of our church. We do more than give money. We also invest thousands of hours in serving people in our community. What are we doing? Here are a few examples:
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY For more than a decade, our church has partnered with Habitat for Humanity. A group of SABC members have built the porches and steps for nearly every Habitat House in the Midlands for years.
SCHOOL MINISTRY We are conveniently located next to two schools. Believing that God has placed us here for a reason, we developed a partnership with H.B. Rhame Elementary. Each week, dozens of St. Andrews people volunteer there, doing everything from reading, to mentoring, to serving as room parents. Nearly 100 members of SABC serve as volunteers at H.B. Rhame. Each fall, we gather school supplies to help the families and faculty of H.B. Rhame.
KIDS CAFE Since 2001, SABC has helped meet the needs of families in our area through a ministry called Kids Cafe. Three afternoons a week, a group of students from Rhame Elementary come to our campus after school. We play great games, do homework, have a nutritious home-style meal—and lots of fun!
VBS/BASKETBALL CAMP Each summer, SABC invites neighborhood children to our campus for a great week of learning and fun. Vacation Bible School helps children develop a spiritual foundation for life, while Basketball Camp focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game.
